Rare Find...Poor Condition

I hunted a new site today near a former railway line. I was looking for an older site but came across another Victorian site. The find of the day is the luggage tag from the W&AR (Windsor & Annapolis Railway) which operated in this area from 1869 to 1894. It's not easy to read but says "Halifax and Kentville - 4296 Via W&AR". Another first for me!!

To me a first in any condition, is what its about. We all hope for that double magic combo of ratity & condition, & thats why its special when it happens. But a first IS a first!

For sure! Anything with a local connection as well is always welcome under my coil!

Those are the bonus prizes on the way to the big one.

I spent too many hours walking the old rail line looking for a site that appears to not exist...the big one is still in the ground waiting until next weekend...

No one ever said the big one would be easy!

And I too might be in pursuit soon.

Nice finds! Congrats and HH!

I do think that's pretty cool (maybe for a special reason)

Lots of targets, is that a watch winder in there ?

Thanks, I thought you might appreciate it, and yes, a watch winder.

Looks like it was a good day for ya, nice finds indeed. I love the luggage tag. I am hoping one day to find one from the Intercolonial Railway, I have a few ICR items I recovered diving and would love to have a tag to go with them.

I can read it just fine! Awesome, I love old baggage tags!

Heh! That railroad tag is awesome, ive yet to find one of those but hope I do someday, I'd be really happy to get one in that condition, I personally like the green patina, so to me its in cool condition!

That's a great historic tag !! Congrats !
Here's some history: The Windsor and Annapolis Railway (W&AR) was a historic Canadian railway that operated in Nova Scotia's Annapolis Valley. The railway ran from Windsor to Annapolis Royal and leased connections to Nova Scotia's capital of Halifax. The W&AR played a major role in developing Nova Scotia's agriculture and tourism industries, operating from 1869 until 1894 when it evolved into the largerDominion Atlantic Railway.
