Rare King George Button?

This was dug by a friend and I posted it for him. It appears to be a king george button. How old is it? And how much is it worth?

Looks like half of a cufflink. Hard to say which George it is but I'd have to Guess George I as that style of bust I've seen on the early George I/II buttons, medals, coins etc., but not so much for George III. It's quite possible you could find another online.

Value is more about being a cool old find. Definitely nothing compared to finding a similar one with GW on it.

In Tice's Dating Buttons book he has an example of Charles II cufflinks, with a bust of Charles and nothing else, so using the bust figure of a ruling monarch for cufflinks was being done at least as early as 1680.

I don't believe these type come from the 17th C. Very few types did & they looked quite different.

the Charles II ones in his book are round shape, but they are different, they are basically two piece blowhole type, but I was saying they used the bust of the monarch on cufflinks as early as 1680, not that exact type of cufflink..........

why is washington park taboo? awesome button! as for finding cellar holes? look for old dirt roads,rock walls,day lillies growing in the woods & myrtle,large maple trees and word of mouth,talk to hunters they know what they are and see them often in the woods
