Not a lot of targets on this outing, but a real super awesome find in the civil war button with roughly 90% of its gold gild left!! I went out with around 8 other detecting buddies and hit some areas in Rhode Island. I managed to pull this beauty out of a field we had eye balled last fall but was too overgrown to detect. At least all this past winters snowfall led to something good! Most of the field was detectable and I pulled this out fairly deep, around 10". Buckles, dandy buttons, and a silver watch back were also recovered there.

I was pleasantly surprised when I went to clean off my KG to find that it was actually a "KW" with a readable date, 1700.

Enjoy the pics..

awesome finds!!

Awesome finds. Congrats.

I've never seen that button before, great finds! And, for what it's worth, Newport RI. is that best town that I've ever been to. Beautiful and historic and Anthony's seafood house is the BEST!

Those are some fantastic finds. Congratulations.

awesome hunt there....love when I hear the word "rare"

I wonder how rare it is? Awesome condition with most of the gilt.

I am so freaking jealous! I am from Newport and always wanted one of these!
