Rare "Prince of Wales Regiment" badge and 60th (Royal American) Regiment of Foot button.

Found both of these early Revolutionary War finds just feet apart here on Cape Cod, MA. yesterday. Lot of Loyalists lived on the cape formed a militia during the early days of the war. But I believe it was short lived as the continental army formed a sizable militia here on the cape. Button condition is quite solid. Needs cleaning which I will look into by someone who cleans old military items. The badge is in ok shape. I have another one that is almost perfect condition. Thanks for looking. I have not posted for quite some time. Have many other items to post soon.

I do like buttons, and that is an interesting 60th button. Does it have any vines around the edge? I can't tell from the photo.

No, the button I found matches this one. Some of the beaded edge is intact on mine but hard to see with the dirt. Funny, there are reproductions of the button. I bought one to go with the original I found. I'm guessing it's not a very common button. The regiment only lasted 4 years.

Those are pewter your looks copper-alloy. Not sure its a button, looks more like a window number tag to me. The reverse is not button like, but can't see it very well.

I have to agree. The iron piece on the back is a little long. But I will say that being found so close together (arms length) with the badge is probably not a coincidence. The number 60 styling is the same. What it use was is uncertain. I know I have never found a window button tag here on the cape in my 10 years of digging. I don't believe they are common here.

Thanks for posting CH, and congrats as always on the Mass finds. I'm hoping @Iron Patch or other experts will chime in on the badge. I can recall multiple posts in the past where there was considerable debate as to whether those pommel or saddle badges were historically significant, or perhaps quite common. Some also say they were tips of leather straps to keep them from fraying. As for me, I'm hoping they are historic, as I have found a couple myself, and one I believe has that same design!
