I just read all your treasure stories about southern Oregon and found them very interesting. I was actually working on I-5 at exit 6 just this last Friday 100 yards from tunnel 13 and was telling the other guys about the tunnel and robbery. A lot of them born and raised in Jackson county and they’d never heard about it. Now that I know about the shotgun, I’ll take a closer look the next time I get adventurous. If you still have access to the mail tribune, (100 years ago today) there’s a story I read about 2004-2008 that said 2 boys cleaning out a chicken pen in Talent or Phoenix dug up a bunch of gold coins buried there for safe keeping by a previous owner who died. They told the woman that hired them about the find and a large legal battle ensued to determine the rightful owner. If I remember right, the boys won.
