I have one like that (different brand name) in my garage and have tried it only ONCE when I was detecting
a farm field. I could only push the blade in the compacted dirt about 7" or 8" and I was jumping on it with both feet.
And when prying open a plug, I could literally feel the blade & handle start to give. . . plus, it REALLY got heavy
lugging around for 5-hours on a hot, sunny day.

So, what do I use it for now? Digging holes in the backyard when the wife decides she wants ME to plant some new shrubs!

My best advice would be to spend the money for a shorter, blade-length shovel (7" or 8") such as one
made by Predator Tools. They are specifically designed for the detectorist and they make a lot of blade styles
and handle lenghts. I bought one 4-years ago and I love it.
