Take it to a jewelry store, can't tell from a picture. :icon_pirat:

I agree - take it to a jeweler. It is well set, but that's about all you can tell from a picture.

If you want to shine her up - a little (non-grit) toothpaste will take most grime out and polish it up.

I think the little bit of green on one of the prongs is a clue? Tony

Not sure if enough patina to call it one way or the other :dontknow:

A jeweler would know. Real or not, that's a nice find :icon_sunny:

In 1st pic it does appear the setting is plated and not solid. Tony got a point that diamond normally would be set in solid.

A diamond tester is about $150-$200.

My wife and I found two twins of those at a local park.

From the appraiser we talked to, ours are costume jewelery.

Did make the heart skip a beat to see that big rock on the end, we were really hoping they were real.

Are there any markings silver or gold?.....Usually for earring studs to have a chance for the stones to be real they are set in gold ...

I would take it to a pawn shop and have them test it, they have to know if it's real or not to buy them

I looked for a marking on it and I don't think there is one. I will ask my club if anyone has a tester. Thanks all :icon_thumleft:

It would be nice if its real, however if I bought this for my lady I would make sure it would have a threaded shaft to be secured better on her ear. The locking device seems cheap for a real diamond.
I cleaned it up and the diamond seems to be in a silver setting. :dontknow:

Treasure Hunter is right.

In a real diamond, you can see through to the newspaper, but everything is blurry.

Cheyenne, I bought this carera specifically to take close up pictures for my finds. It is a,
Canon PowerShot 12.1 megapixel SD950 IS. I bought last years version on ebay. Works great. I tried to take a picture of the camera, but it didn't work out :-\.
