What's up folks? It's been a while since I've posted, I've been finding lots of buttons and bullets lately, all on my property in La Grange, TN. The two front and center buttons are my favorites. The cuff button and the one to the left have quite a bit of gold gilt left. The one to the left of the cuff is a Wisconsin militia button, the rest are artillery and infantry buttons, I believe.
I don't know what half of the items in the second pic are, I'm especially curious about the iron "markers" up against the axe head. They each have a 2 and 1/2 inch spike on the back and two small sharp points on the front for holding a name plate or something, hoping they're not grave markers. Any other i.d. help is appreciated.

Holy S*&% chopper......I'm on my way :o Beautiful Dig's,that's all I can say.....Excellent Job!!! The second pic I guess you know you have some J-hook's,typical grommet's and pack stud's,between them it look's like another "belt" attachment......The bottom row far left is a rowel(spur),2 over from that kinda look's like a "tompion" but I'm not sure.....The rest are what's it's from here.Like I said,Beautiful Dig's.....How long did it take you to dig em all?Sweet job on the lead as well, variety is awesome.....Keep us posted, can't get enough of these dig's....

Nice Finds. Now what are the odds of walking out your back door into a civil war camp site?
Wish that would happen to me

Good eye JRS....Completely missed it.Chopper....can you spread them out and take some more pic's,kinda hard to tell?

Those are some FANTASTIC finds, No matter how long they took you
to find!!!
I don't know where to begin. I do see plenty of pounded lead pieces and
a "pencil" lead, Those are really special!

Man, you are finding some great stuff! I put some colored circles around items to help ID them. The red circled item is a part from a sickle bar on a hay mower, the yellow circled item also looks like a part from a hay mower sickle bar, it should look more like a triangle, but poorer farmers would often resharpen them until no longer useable. The purple circled part is an Officers Sword Belt Plate Keeper, you know what that means...there is an Officers Sword Belt Plate to be found there, unless hunted by someone else before and recovered. The blue circled item is from an Officers Shoulder Epaulet where the insignia would go on their shoulder to show their rank.

I also see tent grommets, knap sack j-hooks, horse harness rivets, a spur rowel, and the small item up front right of center appears to be a pocket watch key.

Hope that helped some and good luck on future hunts, PLEASE show us pics of anything else you find there.
Thanks for sharing!

Steve

Thank you Goldiver and Civilman! I appreciate the i.d. help, I also appreciate everyones kind words. I've split up some of the previously posted items and added a few more.
Crazyjarhead, the "ammo dump" didn't pan out, I found several giant chunks of iron, but not a single bullet or button. I should go back now that I have a better machine.
I found 90% of these items this past winter, I had to clear an acre worth of privet before detecting because I was about to take a backhoe and rip out about 400 stumps and I didn't want to turn all the goodies under.
Can someone identify these lead objects? (pictured in my hand) Some have iron on one side, most are just lead with abbreviations and numbers on both sides. Again thanks for the help.

Good Lord what a great site. Congrats on all your finds.

Great finds cant wait to find a spot like that I'm working on now. Could the lead objects in your hand be seals to stamp on envelopes or packages just a guess. Keep the good finds coming awesome work.

The lead things in your hand are lead seals, used to seal packaged goods so you knew they weren't tampered with before you recieved them.

I believe you have an Infantry camp based on the Infantry Officers buttons you found. Look for areas where you are getting almost solid iron signals and just start digging, a good way to find trash pits, once you hit those it should be like Christmas! Or you should start finding them as you pull out the stumps, also the privies are great spots for relics.

I dug one a couple of years ago and pulled out 59 brass uniform buttons in two days, mostly officer buttons.
