yup, that'll work. There's another thread in this section I think that talks all about that with links to batteries and stuff.

IP, I been thinking of going that route, my two rechargeable packs both now only last about 3 hours maybe 4 if lucky,(on is 9 years old and the other about 6 years old, lots of recharges on those two. So I end up carrying around a minimum of two packs and sometimes I carry alll three with me in the fishing vest. I might as well go for the rechargeables and just use the charger I already have for my camera batteries, just have to charge twice since it only holds 4 batteries at one time. :)

There's some good new maha chargers on ebay that do 8 AA at a time and have a separate led display for each. $50-$100 shipped for that, then about another $50 plus shipping for 16 x 2700s batteries. Painful at first but should last me several years.

Good to hear. Alks. are beginning to be a pain and last year got a bad box and really messed me up trying to figure out what was wrong. I never suspected the batteries and ruined a hunt and a half.

I bought several dozen new Rayovac alkalines and a new expensive detector. The new detector was a piece of crap until I found out it hated the batteries. Now I have some 2400 rechargeables and it works a lot better. The Rays go into grandkids toys. Monty

I have been using Duracell Rechargeable NiMH 1.2V 2650 mah batteries and an Energizer model CHFC Charger for the past 6 months in my Explorer II. Working great for me. I bought both the Batteries and Charger at Target. Seems like I paid about $24 for 8 batteries and $30 for the charger.
