the garret pin pointer is an excellent unit and reliable, the white's bullseye 2 is good too, although they've had problems with the switch going out fairly quickly and I've had problems with mine interfering with my etrac.
as far as a digger, the best I've found is made by lesche

I use the model 85

What sniffer said! I dont know how I have detected without my garrett pro pointer.. as far as a digger goes quit buying and breaking the 6-10 dollar menards diggers get yourself a lesche and enjoy ;)

Predator tools has all that you need.

http://predatortools.com/item_details.asp?ID=42 - Lesche Digger.
http://predatortools.com/item_details.asp?ID=43 - Shovel(Ball Handle) for woods and large parks/groves.
http://predatortools.com/item_details.asp?ID=16 - Same as above with T handle.

They also carry the Garrett Pro Pointer as well. Alternative to the shovel listed above would be what Treasurefiend uses. Just a cheap short shovel from home depot. Like $10-15.00. Don't recommend that for any parks/groves though. That is strictly a woods only shovel.

How's that Etrac coming?

Thanks guys ........looks like the Garrett pro pointer and Lesche digger it is.

D-Dub ........ I'm at about the half way point on the E-Trac.

I haven't really checked into it yet but is the $1498.00 price you see on the net about what you expect to pay for an E-Trac ?

Thanks,
James

Most guys use the Garrett pro pinpointer.
I always use the in line type since it mounts on your machine and you don't lose it.

I have helped look for lost ones and I have found lost ones so thats why the in line type is nice and it runs off the batteries in your unit.
If you spend $1495 for an Etrac you spent too much.. You should be able to pick up a brand new one for 1200 to 1250

D P Bob ..........awesome, that is a good bit cheaper than I thought. Do I have to hunt around for that price or is that pretty standard ?

Thanks,
James

ditto on D-Dub and DP Bob's post

I like the Garrett pro pointer and Lesche digger. If your not it a hurry, you should be able to get a Pro Pointer for about 85.00 used. But you have to jump on them the day they are posted!

I have the Garrett Pro Pointer and it's awesome.
The company is awesome too and they stand behind their product.
That alone is worth any money you might save by buying a cheap probe.

I can say this because I recently had a problem with my Pro Pointer.
Even though it was recently out of warranty, they took care of the problem and didn't charge me anything. There was no hoops to jump through, no excuses, etc.

I'm very happy with the Garrett Pro Pointer as a detecting tool because it has great depth, it helps you to avoid scratching valuable coins or relics, and it makes target recovery MUCH quicker.

You won't be sorry you got one.

Keep a eye on the for sale posts on the forums. See a E-Trac once in a while for a really good price. Rick :coffee2:

if you still have that sunray for the etrac, I'll buy it for the right price
