Hello all,

Hunting partner took me out to some sites he has been searching finding large cents and stuff. We hunted all day around these cellar holes about half a dozen or so. I found one coin, a memorial in a field. Well I hunted for sometime and would find a relic here and there to keep me intrested. It was hard hunting lots of iron very trashy. Tons of trees, sticks and twigs. I had fun hanging out with my friend and hunting wish I could have found some coins but who cares.

I found a Bell, some Harmonica reeds, fired ammunition, Spoons, I think a music box wheel, and some other whatsits.

Here is a ton of pictures, enjoy!!

Keep @ it and HH!!

Pic 10 looks like that back of a pocket watch. Pic 11 is an old oil lantern part and Pic 12 looks like part of maybe a CW era umbrella. Like the 2 intact harmonica reeds it hard to find one down here that not broke into a million pieces. Great finds  Looks like you need to go back

Cool little bell  One of those would make my hunting day :icon_sunny:

The reel in pic #10 looks like a camera film reel.

I agree with cwdigger on the others.

Nice collection of finds Mud!

Happy Hunting,

Yup, it was a good relic day, we hit foundation after foundation, field after field. This is the 40 foundation site where I pulled my 6 coppers from, but more research is still needed to find the foundations not close to the main road, many of the ones we hit were pounded by other detectorists over the years so we need to dig deeper into the historical archives. We did manage to pull one coin today, An 1882 injun, I have to say tho, that bell you found is such a great find

great hunt,
Pro-

The last picture is part of a umbrella.

Looks good. That bell is pretty cool.

Nice finds MS. Check the knob on your lantern thingy for a date. It should be on the outside. I usually run water on mine while using a 3M dish pad. There will be one or multiple patent dates

A nice collection - I wonder how many times that bell was rung to call the hands to meals.

Thank you everyone !! ;D

Lol, plehbah the spoon is a baby spoon so maybe a better baby food or cream of wheat. :D

When I dug the bell the outside was shinny and new. With the first thing that came to mind I started singing "Silver bells, Silver bell's" however not silver still cool. My hunting partner and I think it was the type that was over the door when you came in but. Could be for anything, maybe the carrage bell cause it was found next to what I think was the driveway.

If that part in Picture 12 is a CW Umbrella part I want one of those umbrellas cause this thing is quality made, heavy strong umbrella part. Don't see stuff made that way today.... :-\ One of the items IS the back of a watch but I could not find the watch. I check the lantern for a mark it says something I can't make it out right now. I hate memorials rtde3 they do turn up everywhere, you could be digging in the runes of Ancient Egypt and you'll be like "up...!! Another memorial..." OK, ok... Lets keep digging. ??? :icon_scratch: :tongue3:

Rotfl, ;D :D

keep @ It and HH!!

Looks like great stuff, hope you find a lot of coins next time out!

Your on to something old here! (old dirt) don't give up. I remember when you first started here on the forum and finding all that clad :-\
Good to see that your finding the old stuff now. keep it up!

The Newbie I was hunting with saturday found a bell identical to the one you found. It looks like the same metal that was used in the Tombac buttons because there was no corrosion at all other than the little iron dinger was rusted away on the inside. I would guess that bell around 1820's because of the type metal used and the age of the site we were on. What do you think about the age of the bell?

Thanks again everyone !!

The bell is from the Early 1800's to the great depression 1920's and is about the size of a tennis ball maybe a little smaller. The large cents my hunting partner Prolab69 found from these sites are dated Pre- 1830's. The sites we are hunting were abandoned during the great depression. An entire community up and left about 30+ homes, farms a School etc. I Have come a long way from digging clad with a Bounty Hunter.

Thanks again,

Keep @ it and HH!!
