So, I was feeling like I would like to find something old today.

I went to a place where I knew that anything at all would be tough to find.
But, I figured that after the long period of rain we had, the ground halos might
just be a lil easier to discern.

I stayed on deeper, more iffy signals today. Wanted to see if I'd lost my "ear".

Apparently, I haven't. Didn't find a whole lot but that was part of the plan. Also,
what I did manage to dig were all down between 7-12 inches. The signals had a
pattern. They'd start out between 40-50, sometimes, just an iron grunt. But, after
removing the top layers, they almost all moved up to between 56 - 85.

The 2nd part of the plan for the day was to keep it old and interesting. I believe
I accomplished that too. AND....almost every piece has clues for identification!
That is something I always enjoy! Faceless coppers, no detail pieces of whatever
are just not much fun for me.

First up was this brass combo:

A full 12 inches down and I just figured, neat....a hose clamp! :BangHead:
But! After I got it home, it had a slight surprise for me. A hint about it's origins.

2017 (685).webp

All three parts came out as one piece. 1890!?!? :icon_scratch:

This next piece really caused a smile for me on several levels:

2017 (687).webp

This thing was a whisper at about 6 inches!
It's a painted lead horse and it is soooo tiny!!
Made me feel like the ole ear still has some sharp to it! 8-)

2017 (688).webp

This one....I was VERY happy that it was an "eyeball" find!
I suspect if I had dug this, I might would still be lying out there. :tongue3:

2017 (689).webp

This one showed me just how harsh the soil I was digging in was on nickles! :dontknow:

2017 (690).webp

Only half a story here, there was evidence of the rest in the hole but it had long since disintegrated.
Still, even it is trying to hint at it's identity.

2017 (691).webp

Dog tag? The other side is no help. :dontknow:

2017 (692).webp

Pistol ball?

2017 (693).webp

Strange brass piece. Thumbscrew? :tongue3:

2017 (694).webp

Even this piece is trying to give us a hint! LOL

Lastly, there's this small button.
I'm not familiar with the design.

There is a backmark, but, I am having trouble reading it.

2017 (697).webp
2017 (695).webp
2017 (696).webp

I think it says "ROBINSONS" across the top.
Feel free to guess! :dontknow:

2017 (683).webp

Anyway, mission accomplished. Even found a "coin" ! LOL

If you've made it this far, you either *really* like to read,
or you're like me. If one doesn't have a life, they have to
fill it up with something. :tongue3:

Thanks for peeking!

Interesting array of relics!
And a coin snuck in there too.
Congrsts!
Your senses haven't left you.

Blingie has his shinny.
Fishy maybe giving the pony a ride, they can both hop in one if his many autos.

I like the thumb screw item and the button.
The tag looks like it was in service for a while from the wear in the top hole.
Great day of finding and foraging forward! Nicely done!

Yeah, I seem to still be able to discern a deep, iffy signal. That's good news.
But, isn't it nice when, on a "find old stuff day", the items come out labeled
with the actual day on them!? ;) LOL

Cool finds! Looks like you've got some good researchers on the job, too!

This sight has more knowledge than the Library of Congress! Well, at least concerning identifying some strange and bizarre old metallic items. Love the folks willing to put in some effort of their own free will to help out other's increasing the coolness of their whatsits! Well done T-net CREW!:icon_salut:
