UPDATED PICS, SEE BELOW
So, I was feeling like I would like to find something old today.
I went to a place where I knew that anything at all would be tough to find.
But, I figured that after the long period of rain we had, the ground halos might
just be a lil easier to discern.
I stayed on deeper, more iffy signals today. Wanted to see if I'd lost my "ear".
Apparently, I haven't. Didn't find a whole lot but that was part of the plan. Also,
what I did manage to dig were all down between 7-12 inches. The signals had a
pattern. They'd start out between 40-50, sometimes, just an iron grunt. But, after
removing the top layers, they almost all moved up to between 56 - 85.
The 2nd part of the plan for the day was to keep it old and interesting. I believe
I accomplished that too. AND....almost every piece has clues for identification!
That is something I always enjoy! Faceless coppers, no detail pieces of whatever
are just not much fun for me.
First up was this brass combo:

A full 12 inches down and I just figured, neat....a hose clamp!
But! After I got it home, it had a slight surprise for me. A hint about it's origins.

All three parts came out as one piece. 1890!?!?
This next piece really caused a smile for me on several levels:

This thing was a whisper at about 6 inches!
It's a painted lead horse and it is soooo tiny!!
Made me feel like the ole ear still has some sharp to it!

This one....I was VERY happy that it was an "eyeball" find!
I suspect if I had dug this, I might would still be lying out there.

This one showed me just how harsh the soil I was digging in was on nickles!

Only half a story here, there was evidence of the rest in the hole but it had long since disintegrated.
Still, even it is trying to hint at it's identity.

Dog tag? The other side is no help.

Pistol ball?

Strange brass piece. Thumbscrew?

Even this piece is trying to give us a hint! LOL
Lastly, there's this small button.
I'm not familiar with the design.
There is a backmark, but, I am having trouble reading it.

I think it says "ROBINSONS" across the top.
Feel free to guess!

Anyway, mission accomplished. Even found a "coin" ! LOL
If you've made it this far, you either *really* like to read,
or you're like me. If one doesn't have a life, they have to
fill it up with something.
Thanks for peeking!
