I finally got to returned to my favorite Military relic spot. This time ole Freak was with me and man was it hot... I was wanting to get back to the spots I had missed in the previous two outings.. I had labeled all of my prior finds on the GPS feature of the machine. I was starting to notice a high saturation of targets/relics.. Especially lead vs buttons and finds other than lead. It appears the lead was to the SE and the buttons and other items were to the east and north.. Needless to say walking thru both zones was producing more finds…
RED Mostly relics and buttons, Black Bullets, Orange all buttons.
This is two hunts. Yesterday’s hunt consisted of two visits one before a thunderstorm which was manly in the orange and red area. Freak hunted the first part and We made several finds. The second part was all lead, except for one Eagle D Cuff button. I will list the finds as I found them.
First couple of finds were the game winner’s for me..
Eagle D(Dragoon) Back marked Scovill and Waterbury
Next was one of the finds of the day for me.. Never found one and have only seen one in a display. Not much information on this find.. I do know that it is a Plum(feather or decoration) holder for a soldier’s helmet/hat. With the majority of the finds from this one spot being Dragoon buttons, I would guess that this is off a dress uniform hat of a Dragoon/Cavalry soldier.
Plum(feather) holder, possibly Dragoon’s
After that the buttons continued..
Eagle D cuff Button
I also found a couple of Infantry buttons but they were in poor shape..
Infantry button
Another cool button was this Great Coat cuff button
Great Coat cuff Button. Backmark United States..
UNITED**STATES**
I found several other buttons, but the 2nd find of the day had to be this lead backed US horse bridle rosette. This is only the second one I have ever found and a different variety than the one before.
I thought I had found a coin with this one, but it was a button with the back missing and it was smashed flat.
I can’t tell you how much a help the GPS/mapping feature is on the CTX3030. I think when users grasp what this feature can do, they will be giving it a try..
Here is the total finds for Saturday
This hunt was captured on video and I will be uploading it towards the middle of the week. I did show some of the gps feature during the hunt so hope it helps..
