Religious Pendant Spill (7!!!) & Mystery Coin

I've been trying to locate a farm homestead that is a dot on the 1876 map. It appears that the map surveyor was about 200 yards off, which led to a number of fruitless hikes in the woods during the old lunch hour. I finally compared the old map to the 1938 aerials and decided to hit the old farm site in the aerials closest to the dot.

First target was the nickel sized mystery "coin".
It appears to be maybe a half mm larger than a nickel and has a reeded edge. Otherwise super toasty, anyone have an idea on this? Then hit 2 wheats (1920 & toast) near the nickel sized target.

Went about another 30 feet and got a good hit and pulled a religious pendant. Reswung the hole and got another Then 5 more pendants out of the same hole. 1 totally disintegrated during cleaning.

What is really crazy is that another TNeter I believe in Germany found a religious pendant pocket spill with 7 pendants just 2 weeks ago? Very similar looking pendants and conditions. Some kind of parallel universe X Files thing is going on??

Very interesting finds there... it may be that someone had the pendants on a necklace, and it broke or otherwise came apart after going into the dirt. Maybe recheck for fragments? In any event, it's an excellent and (almost) unique set of finds. No help on the coin... I've never had a 20 cent piece, would it be in that size range?

The 20 centers are silver. My guess would be shield nickle but who knows.

I remember that other pendant spill and thought this was same thread. How quirky and unique. Keep swining.

Really strange as I recall too reading the other post 2 weeks ago. Did someone changed religion and got rid of the pendants, or after a dramatic event, all the pendants were thrown in the ground? Very strange and mysterious!

Its not a 20 cent piece, I'm pretty sure. If it was silver it should never have that level of corrosion. If it was a nickel it would not have a reeded edge. My guess is that it is foreign and probably zinc. Maybe one of the WWII issues from Europe.

It was definitely one of the more unique spills, I started looking around to see if this was some kind of burial spot. The curser in the photo is where this weird spill was in relation to the early 1900's home.

Thx, it's definitely not silver and not typical brass corrosion, your probably right about foreign or token zinc mix.
