Kickball league? I wanna play! :o :o :-\

Hey Mona, they announced after this game that if the interest is there, they will have an adult league this spring.

Kickball...loved it as a kid...

We were just talking about old games this weekend at the BSA Camporee...and Kickball was one of the subjects....someone was saying some state outlawed kickball at all schools in their state (can't remember the state though)...

Anyways...I guess they'll have to outlaw Football, Hockey, Baseball, Soccer and let's including wrestling and cheerleading...as kids are always getting injured, some very seriously playing these games! I mean, it's only fair...right?

But looks like ya'll had an awesome time and I hope you get your league up and running!!!!! HAVE FUN!!!!!

This is a Parks and Rec activity. Kind of strange though. DigginGirl is in an after school program with the Parks Department. It's basically child care for parents who commute to work. It's reasonable, so we participate. It is held at the various elementary schools of the district. Here's the strange part:

The school district has outlawed Dodgeball. The P&R program DG is in plays dodgeball in the school gym.

How weird is that????

Oh, I forgot that one....Dodgeball....we use to play that ALL the time!!! My gosh, that was a fun game! The kids can't play that here either....school does not allow it!!!

The way I see it...and this is just my opinion...if you are going to stop kids from playing one sport...shouldn't all sports be outlawed? I mean, how is football, baseball and hockey any safer than kickball and dodgeball?

We better watch it...RED LIGHT GREEN LIGHT will be outlawed soon...cause a child fell while running and knock a tooth out or got a scratch on their knee from falling... :-\

Red light, Green Light? Forget about that, that game's lame. Now London Bridge and Duck,Duck,Goose....those Games are DANGEROUS! Not to mention Red Rover.

But what about Musical Chairs? We have GOT to outlaw that one. Imagine how damaging it is to the psyche of the poor little dear that didn't have a chair to sit in when the music stopped. That one's gotta go!

Just being facetious and pointing out one more silly thing that's contributing to the Wussification of America.

Actually dodgeball ROCKS! I played on our unit's dodgeball team on a league we had the last time we were over here in Iraq. One guy on our team was charging a ball on the line and collided with a guy on the other team and wound up breaking his leg in three places. He is still making semi-annual trips to Walter Reed for it and this happened in early 2005. The funny thing is that it was the Air Force Medical team we were playing against when it happened and they had TWO orthopedic surgeons on their team....go figure.

Yeah, but for US GIRLS...Red Light Green Light was fun!! ;)

You are so right on the Musical Chairs...forgot about that one....but not only will the child who did NOT get a chair have issues well into their adult years...think of the harm that could be done when the last two are fighting over who's going to get in the chair? Soooooo...we have both mental and physical anquish over this game...

I really think Jump Rope should be one too....I sprained my ankle once jumping rope....I did however, survive and it did not really cause me much sorrow into my adult years ;D and I even let my kids jump rope (without incident :))

All homes should be without doors too....(can't tell you how many times as a kid I walked into my best friends glass patio door after her mother cleaned it!!!)

I guess soon, we will all be walking around in bubbles, to prevent injury and harm to ourselves and others.

How about, Kill The Man. An everybody for yourself, type of rugby. We even played it at school. ;D

Thanks for the memories. I'm thinking of a game call "pop the whip"?? seems I recall such a game...probably outlawed too.

;) RR

Anyone ever play Buck, Buck, how many fingers up? Mostly boys played it.

That's funny you mentioned that RR. Now I remember them outlawing, "crack the whip" in 6th grade. You don't want to be the end of the whip. :o

Don;t laugh about outlawing it...I;ve heard of some schools allowing them to still play(for now), but not allowing them to keep score....its detrimental to the self esteem of the players on the losing side if they keep score and this of course will be damaging to their self development....Thus, instead of healthy competition which helps teach the kids to strive to excel and better themselves they are teaching that is is o.k. not to have winners or losers and life will allow failure...what a crock.... >:( The Little League baseball teams now have to take ALL kids...tryouts and cuts are too damaging to them, so you don't have to practice or have half a clue, you jsut need to show up occassionally...isn;t this setting a great example for what life will throw at them later....
