Hi All,

I'd like to start dabbling with filming (videoing?) my hunts a la some of the Youtube greats (Nugget Noggin, Beach Pirate, etc.). Thing is, I don't know a darn thing about what type of camera, mount, batteries, and other features to get so that I can have everything I need to film a 5-6 hour hunt. I assume a Go-Pro would be the best kind? I would also assume it would need to be water-proof since I will hunt both land and in the shallow water on salt beaches? Extra batteries? What are the best mounting options (head, waist, on my machine?)? I'd love to hear people's thoughts about what the ideal equipment to purchase would be. I can spend around $500. Thanks in advance for any guidance!

I just found this excellent video showing how this guy mounts his go pro to his Nox. Worth a watch....

Im getting into it a little more these days since I had a video get popular on YouTube. I've always dabbled with the gopro but won a new one in a fishing tournament. I love the head mount and film that way quite a bit. So my wife got me a gopro accessory kit.....wow....there is a bunch of gear in this kit and im now getting into all the other mounts and attachments. I think the editing and management of your YouTube channel is also important. I don't have alot of views overall, but I have one video that got 48000 views last month !! I have noticed that when I answer Comments I get alot more attention !! I am enjoying it and its fun learning the new gopro. Got some great fishing videos on the instagram now too. Takes a little while to explore it all and find what mounts and techniques you like best. Gonna try the chest rig next !!

Best of luck on the video recording of your hunts.
I tend to fast forward through most that I even dare watch.
Reasons.
Introduction to their video(s) Blaring/extreme/music/crap/attention getting crap-so I cut through the crap.
Driving to site-like I need a road trip for 5-10 minutes of a 35 minute video.
Locating a target-seriously the coil has now swung/beeped/in every conceivable direction 10X
Over the top yelling, air pumping, fist pumping, back slapping, -over a piece of lead....
Now if was a gold coin-warranted :headbang:
Like the videos that are just straight/down to earth talking/descriptions/with a normality to them.
Just my take on the videos that are made.
Click bait-gets a thumbs down-never a click to view person again.
There's some real decent videos made-not even great recoveries-just seems to close to what a person might experience out there with them.

I must admit....I get bored quick watching every bottle cap get dug....to be honest....I rarely watch detecting videos....but there is a ton of stuff I do like watching. People always want me to make videos of my detecting.....always seems like the same crap everyone else is making. My enthusiasm go's up and down when making a detecting video.....making a fishing video is much more exciting to me !!

You can see almost all my videos get average responses, it only takes one to go viral....I make all my videos mainly for my friends and family to share my aadventures, but every once in a while one takes off !! You can see that one has 52000 views....all of a sudden youtube is interested in what your up to. Now I'm some sort of content creator and get all sorts of stat updates from YouTube HQ. I wish they would tell me how to make money and get paid !!

Thanks for the feedback, guys! I bought the Go Pro Hero 10 and the head (baseball cap for me) mount. I bought some sort of combo where I received an extra battery and a 64 gb memory chip. I hope to use it for the first time next week on vacation in Nha Trang, Vietnam. I'll be detecting a beach where American GIs during the war used to party like there was no tomorrow (I was told). Hoping to find some lost rings. We'll see.

Well....that sounds like something I'd like to see...good luck filming. You should enjoy it !!

I have a buddy who's sons is trying to become a utube millionaire. Send me a message with your email and I will get it to him. He posts videos everyday and has some nice looking equipment.
