A couple of years ago I received permission to detect a property about 150 yards outside of a Rev. War Battleground Park. Maps clearly showed that the American/British battle lines extended to this area. I knew from talking to the local "old-timers" that a lot of musket balls, a British button, and a complete flintlock lockplate had been found in this small patch of woods in years past.
I found around 50 or so musket balls before it seemed to have dried up.
Fast forward til today.....the city has taken the land and is building a road right through the property. The trees and stumps have been removed at a rapid pace. A few relic hunters have been back and I'm hearing that they have all found musket balls. I have spent several hours there, concentrating in the areas that were previously productive, and have found eight additional balls. The bulldozers have brought a few relics to the surface but I know that this site will be done in a couple of days.....going to miss it.
