Well the new permission is still giving. Really happy with this one. My best preserved pewter Revolutionary War button found in a field and not just of any regiment but the 29th. Found it less than 100 feet from my previous Rev War find, the 67th regiment of foot button from the same period.

Close to Montreal and Burgoyne's route, I think it confirms the fact that some of the 67th regiment soldiers were marching with Burgoyne's troops.

Also found a few pieces of musket (a part of a ramrod and of a buttstock) and a few dropped musketballs.

Was just checking your posts. Holy moly your good!

Thank you. You have found some great finds, amazing 8 Reales cob! Big congratulations!

That's fantastic. Rev. Well-preserved Rev. War buttons are hard to come by owing to their pewter content. Good for you!

Belle recherches et belles trouvailles.
Nice finds.

What a great looking pewter button, the soils were kind. I wish my buttons would be even close to the condition of yours. Congratulations

Thank you. Surprised with the condition as well.

Isn't this your second 29th? And both in such great condition. I posted some of what I learned about that regiment's history on that first thread...amazing ties to the pre-revolutionary tensions in Boston (including a certain pivotal conflict with civilians there in 1770) as well as rev actions.

You dig great history.

Thank you Ken.
Yes. It's my second 29th. First being a cuff sized one in a much better condition. This one is from a new permission. From what I understand the design of the button is from 1773 so after the Boston massacre. But is sure the same design worn during the Revolutionary War.

Ah, thanks. I didn't look into this one as much. I appreciate the info.

WOW! Incredible button :occasion14: I like that ramrod guide and buttplate piece too. Sure looks like a killer site and I cant wait to see what else you pull out of there.

Thank you! Hopefully there's some more stuff left there.

Beautiful button recovery - especially for a pewter specimen.

Excellent finds. Looks like a great spot.

Laying in the ground for over 200 years and still in great shape. Congratulations
