I need help in identifying the origin of this button that I recently recovered from an early 19Th century house site. I found a similar button on eBay which listed it as a British Revolutionary War Navy button, but I have serious doubts of it being of that era. The button is two-piece with a recessed stamped anchor and iron back, approximately 23mm. Thanks for any help.

The fact that it is two pieced puts it in the same time period as the house or later.

Iron back usually means civilian, and modern,,,,Navy knew better than to use thin iron in salt moist conditions. The Anchor is also a Universal emblem.Post it in the whats it section, guaranteed you will get an answer
