Revolutionary War Dog Tag?

I have two items that I bought at an auction. One is a cast iron grape shot ball, the other is a copper tag with a name. The tag is made of copper and "HSPRING" is indented into the surface and it looks like a small chisel was used to do this. Could this be a Revolutionary War ID Tag? Thanks, historynut

Need to see pics.
Offhand I'd say the tag could be for luggage, etc.
Post pics of the "grape shot". If you can post the measurement and weight there are people here that can help.
