These were taken over Afghanistan 2 days ago by my Son on a mission to pick up a work Dog that was suffering from Gastric Torsion. They took him to a Vet in Bagran Afghanistan for a vet to see if he needed surgery. They treat these Dogs with the same urgency that they do a fellow Soldier.I don't know how to write between the pictures I post so bare with me.

First shot is the Black Hawks they fly in to pick up wounded.
Second picture Co Pilot gives thumbs up on lift off for this mission
Third picture is the view my Son See's from the chopper.
There is always a lot of smoke and haze over there and my Son says it is like hitting a wall when they go in to it.
Below is Kabul, Afghanistan, notice all the smoke and haze caused by the residents burning things to cook and keep warm with.
The patient a real pretty German Shepard. The Soldier on his knees is my Son,a critical care flight nurse. reading about the Dogs condition. They have calls to transport these Dogs a lot.

Thanks for looking, Today is our Sons last day of duty ON this tour and he will be home ward bound very soon.I might add that the guys that are on these Medevac teams are really something. They fly at night using night vision goggles through Mountain canons to pick up wounded. They are a well repected group called DUSTOFF, which means Dedicated, unhesitating service to our fallen forces.
They do this with out complaining and love what they do.

Excellent pictures Van... and about a subject many of us were not aware of.....but would like to think happens....
Treating Dogs as fellow soldiers that is.
Thanks for posting and thank your Son for his service. :icon_thumright:

Your capitalization of "Dog" I found very appropriate ;D

Great pictures Van. I'm so glad your son is coming home. My son served two tours in Iraq and I know the worry a parent has while their child is away serving their country. Please Thank him for his service. If it weren't for our service men and women we wouldn't have the freedom that we do.

Thanks for sharing Ed, may they all come home safely.

Kiwijohn I believe the Dogs need to be treated as equals and so does he and the rest of his team. Thanks for your kind words.

I dont know how the Dog is doing, but they normaly recover with the help of great vets.We are really glad this tour is over,he volunteered for this special assignment. He has flown more missions then any other critical care nurse over there and he is ready to come home now.

Thank you allen. He is back in the States now.He is a career Soldier and now is working as a head Nurse in a Intensive Ward Unit in a Army Hospital in Oklahoma. He is well trained in what he does and if I was injured in a war zone,he is the one I would want looking after me.He definitely made a difference in some peoples life while over there
He said the other day on facebook to one of his team members still there, that he missed that duty.
