Took a quick trip to a mine outside of Ouray yesterday and on the way up from Montrose I stopped in Ridgeway to take a look at these Galloping Goose vehicles that were used from the 1930s into the early 1950s. The black mail carrier is a converted 30s Buick I believe. This Wikipedia link provides a little history on why this system of rail travel was created. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gal...e popular, derived from full-sized automobiles. Sure was a beautiful day west of the Rockies, but I'm hearing the winter weather will be coming in full force by this next weekend to the state. Glad I had this trip scheduled this week and not next week.
