Got out for the last two daysat a new spot that produced 6 wheat's last week and a 14k ring. This time out even better, a Silver ring and I Got my First V Nickel, 1899!! I could not believe it, Finally after 10 years in this hobby Washington gave me a V nickel, also got alot of old ammo, two more wheat's,(7&8 For the year) and old button. Pulled a old 0.42 oz Sterling Silver Ring, crusty wa tax token, I also found two more Specialist pins and a PFC pin, alot of hard work and I know my back will be paying for it in the morning but its all good overall a great two days, need to get my barbers and mercs next!! so how do you clean a V nickel??

What is the Silver piece with the dragon looking thing on it ? A button ? I really like that .
And the one under that with the hole in the middle ?
Great finds and I am glad you got to get out and do a little digging !

Great V nickel man! I'm glad to see that you are still kicking butts and taking coins.

Van, post a bigger pic of the Unit insignia. Looks like I left too early. Great finds

Disregard. The DUI is from the 39th Infantry Regiment of the 4th ID which was deactivated at Fort Lewis in 1921. DUI was authorized in 1931. They were reassigned to Fort Lewis in 1956 and deployed to Vietnam from Lewis in 1966. They were assigned to Fort Lewis with the 9th ID from 1972 until 1991 then deactivated. Based on the style of the DUI, I think your version with limited enameling was from the 1956-1966 time frame. Esarlier models used clip pins.

The clip on the right is a .30-06 5-round speed loader for an M1 Garrand.
