I searched Google and found...

Handy Safety Knife Company

"...Every Handy Safety Knife delivers made-in-USA quality. We are proud to make every one of our safety ring knives in America, just as we have since 1897..."

So, congrat's on your ring find! :laughing7:

Never seen anything like that, I wonder if it were meant to be a "working" type tool? Worn just for that reason, cutting twin while working with it. It's a curious thing.

Yes it is a good thing....We use these when tying trees recently dug in the fields. easier to cut the twine and keep the tightness of the string to cut without having to get out a pocket knife. Also saves you from losing your pocket knife.

Congrats on a different kind of ring. I'd count it !

That's a very neat find. I've never seen one of those before. Thanks for sharing the pic.

totally cool ring, obviously designed by necessity and also to speed things up when working

Back in the days before plastic bags when you made a purchase at many stores like Woolworth Five&Dime, your package was boxed and wrapped in brown paper and tied with string or twine. Every clerk wore one of those twine knives all day to cut the twine or string after wrapping your parcel. if the parcel was heavy or large they had these cool wood tubular handles with wire hooks to hook on the twine or string to make it easier to carry. All that service at no extra charge!! I used to save the wooden tube handles and use them on my little dirt forts as cannons. Damn I'm getting old!!
