I found this piece at an 1890's farm. It's a working farm, Longstreet Farm in NJ. Detecting is not allowed on the property but I searched just outside the fence where there is some grass. First thought was ring because I like the personal items but I see a small hole in each end. Thinking nails were in there. It's got the scallop and the square design. Not sure about the metal type, it came in at '11' on the Nox 800 which is an unusual tone. I scratched it up pretty good with the Andre's pencils but I think that'll come out with more scratching.

Thank you for any input.

Looking at the two small holes, on each end, I’m guessing it’s a rolled up piece of decorative trim. To what, I have no idea, but I like mystery items.

I think it's the backing for a dresser or desk handle.
