Detector(s) used
CTX 3030 / AT PRO / Etrac w/ NEL
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Last week I went by an old Park i used to hunt, and pretty much got tired of not gettiing signals, When I Noticed they were ripping the roads up, even below the orginal brick roads
I got out for a few hours yesterday and started swinging.

I wasnt really getting alot of signals and suddely got a slamming Nickel signal. I didnt even have to dig, I looked down and saw somethign round, Picked it up and it was a 1907 V Nick!..I was Pumped!!..Ive only found one other one before this!! a few steps from the nickel, I got this wierd looking thing. It almost looks like a hood ornament or something. It apears to have something on the inside..Not sure what its from thou

I was about to head back to the house, and was just walking with my detector, not even swinging it, and I got another good Nickel Signal. It was about 2-3 inches below the road surface, and when I got it out, I saw the the V on the back and thought "Damn!" 2 in one day!, this one being 1906

I went to the car and started cleaning it with water, when i relizd that it was in Awesome Shape! I think this was probally one of the best condition coins I have found since detecting.

One thing I can say about an AT PRo is....they sure know there Nickels!! :hello2:

You know, Thats what i thought it was, it is threaded, I just couldnt find one online that matched it, Most of them look much larger. I would love to know what it came from.

Great V nics!! Ripping out roads and finding coins :icon_thumright: Gotta love it ! Imagine what got hauled away=ED

D-N-D,

Nice V Nickels!!
The hood Ornament is kinda small, maybe in inch tall. thats what is confusing, I cant find one that small online.

GOOD JOB , Was that in TX OR FL just curios .

maybe that object is a ornament thingy from a petal car?

Great finds! You were definitely in the right place at the right time. Those V Nickels held up very well!

Another option for the cap is the bottom of radiator has a drain plug they are plastic on most modern cars.If it is that small.

Were they still working when you were out there?

They werent onsite when I was there, But they have about 2 miles of road they are tearing up.

Digin in dumps,

The one item you are having trouble id'ing may be one of two in my estimation. It appears to be made of aluminum. If so, that of itself, usually limits it to other indicators of use. When cleaned properly you might find this item to be either a dog tag or, a girls scout lapel pin. There is a remote possibility that it is a gen. staff pin or gen. service pin for the military. That of course , would have to made of brass, and less likely in light of what I have previously indicated. It does have one thing going for it in this in this catagory. You found it on top of the ground and not buried. It has likely seem more activity due to weather conditions than the other metal and obscurred the true nature of what it is made of. Furthermore, the shape of all three items, conform to the same or similar coutouts of the metal used. You will find that in most cases that the dog tag example will usually have the information pertaining to the item on one side. Good luck in your discovery and, a wonder find.
