Hey guys... I was looking around and found two of these stones!! ... both are over a lb. in weight. This is just one of them.

Pyrite or galena?

I've contacted the University but they are on summer break. I too at first thought it was pyrite ... matched it up to samples of pyrite it's way off ... Galena? Haven't tried that. I know those pics aren't really showing it justice ... lemme try to add another pic

Yea i had that pyrite nugget since 1981

Both of you have a stone of the Jesuit. Quick your has that little piece that extends out. I have stones with the same features. The place you found it. Was it near a water source. In that area there will be the same out thing but larger. Here at my place it's in the water.

Galena looks correct to me to. Dont handle it to much and wash your hands after

Actually, I see why people are saying galena, but it actually looks more like Arsenopyrite. But be even more careful than you would with Galena, it contains Arsenic.
