This was found along Lake Michigan, near the Wisconsin border. What intrigues me are the gold flakes around the rock. What could that be?
What kind of rock is it?
thanks

Looks heavy and hard, probably A form Chalcedony(micro crystalline quarts) that has been morphed by heat or pressure or both. the metal looks like pyrite, but I would try Ant's suggestion

I tried your recommendation. The flakes did not move. They are essentially fixed in place with no movement.
What does that conclude?
Thanks
