Rock - Native American Tool?

I found this in a dried river bad in Northeast Ohio (roughly 25 years ago) and just recently ran across it which has resparked my curiosity. I was wondering if any of you fine people could help me identify it (if it's even anything to even indentify?) Thanks in advance!

I think it's a fossilized stromatolite colony.

Looks like a piece of eroded sandstone to me.
