Rock or wood

Found while digging an old house site, probably from 1920-1930 Looks like wood but feels like a rock.
Maybe pet wood but for sure not natural, someone took time to polish. No other pieces found. First time finding anything like this.

Looks like a piece of petrified wood to me. Nice specimen.

Petrified wood. Whether previously polished, I can not tell. That would require a much closer examination. I have personally collected specimens that appeared, to the untrained eye, to have been cut and polished, but under rigorous inspection, were not.

Time for more coffee.
