Picture 1 is Cru'dad's 2 hour solo hunt on the Roman Lion Site & Sestertius Hill. Both are Barley Stubble & they have been hammered hard last year with no change other than the stubble in the way. Although 2 scrappies & a Roman Hair Pin in 2 hours is not great, the bigger bit of lead he found gave me hope for something better we may have missed. (plus the recent rain)

Therefore, today we did 5 hours of gridding over the best spot on the Roman Lion Site. I dug every nail signal & only ended up with 4, plus 3 other bits of junk. To get so little junk/lead/nails in 5 hours shows us it needs a deep plough.
We did get 15 Roman Coins, 3 were OK, the Trajan As is a type we need, & was over 10 inches deep. (plus a small bit of Roman Bracelet)

The last hour we tried 'The Trackway Site' & got a few bits including a Lead Token. (last picture)

Congrats on the very productive hunt! :occasion14:

I absolutely love it when I see there is a new post from you. Your finds are amazing, especially given their historical context!

I just feel sad that we may have hoovered off all the nice early Denarius. It had a high %age on this field. I guess we may need to wait a few years for the next good plough.

Excellent finds Cru Thanks for always being kind enough to share them. Amazing
