My strategy in the morning was a high risk one, so I decided to grid alone & send Cru'dad to the Roman Metal Working area. I was trying to do a large 200 metre grid over where I thought an ancient trackway was, in the hope I would find the Celtic breadcrumbs between the 2 Sites. I knew this was a hero or zero idea, but I felt a hammered may appear to save the big areas of nothing. I also thought we could change plans at lunch.
After 3 hours, I had no Celtic signs, but 2 hammered & 3 scrappies. Cru'dad had 9 mostly small scrappies.
OTWBTTC I got another hammered.
After lunch we decided to split up again & try gridding areas we have never done. Not much turned up, other than my 4th Hammered.
This is the first August since records began that we had NO Roman Silvers, normally we would have 4 or 5.

6 Hours:

12 Scrappies
Circa 1894 Livery Button, from one of the 'Flower' family name.
Circa 17th C Thimble
13th C Annular Buckle
2 1st C AD Fibula Catchplates
2-3rd C Roman enameled Brooch
4 Hammered:
Ed I - Farthing, rare Lincoln Mint (shame its in poor condition, as I needed this one)
Ed I - Durham Mint Penyy
Cut Half Penny of Henry III
Ed IV Penny Durham Mint Bishop Booth (One I need)

Laying on the top, its lost most of its outer edge but still looks pretty nice.

Nice Finds! Over here we would be very happy to find hammered silver. Too bad no Roman silver. I can't say that I feel bad for you:occasion14:
