Roman Seal Box Lid

[Silver Searcher]

Hi all......not been posting for a while due to family commitments and lack of land but yesterday I managed to get a afternoon on a grass field ad jaysent to a very productive area, apart from a few modern finds of buttons decimal change etc I managed to winkle out this nice Roman seal box lid with traces of blue, orange and green enamelling still visible, next week I am going to a new area were the farmer has just seeded a grass field that's in a very good area so hopefully I will have outher things to show you next week (roll on the harvest)

Roll on the harvest indeed. Dad & I are itching to do a new site with all the promise of ancient finds. Dad has even decided to take the whole of August off between contracts & find a job after harvest

Hope you don't mind, but I forwarded to picture to a friend who is studying these. I will let you know his comments shortly.

Man, its been tough recently but we haven't given up on the Big Grass Field yet (not until we have done every square inch)

comments from researcher:

'This one is very nice and a new design as well, so I am very happy that you sent me details of it. Has it been recorded because if not I would like to know the dimensions and the Parish in which it was found if possible?'

He said he would comment later, when he got back home.

If you PM the details, I will forward if your happy?

Cheers
