The storm and rain we got from UK last night stopped this morning so i got out this afternoon for a couple hours on a well detected Villa site. After plow i hoped for some finds. I detected across the field to the roman site and got some finds here and there, funny were the horse finds, bottle opener and medal. Got a broken crotal bell, medieval belt clasp, two scrappies, buttons, lead. Not much left there. Only the bronze piece is interesting, must been pulled up by the plow. Way too big to overlook and it looks like fresh broken. I'm leaning towards roman bronze mirror, though i didn't find a match with a flat handle.

love the bottle opener!

Nice little Roman horse mount, & the mystery thing I have no clue.

You'll get it as a gift! How about the British Horse Society Medal? How did it made it's way into a German field...

Great finds! Glad you had a good hunt!
That bottle opener is making me thirsty :laughing7:

intresting finds, but bad there was not some silver or gold that was rdy to pop out.

I'm hoping you'll clean up that bottle opener and open a good bottle of ale or lager- every day !

Depends on age, but maybe a Daughter/Son of a Military person posted to Germany?

Possible. Lots of British Military here till they left some years ago.

Hi Cru, mystery solved! Handle to a roman caserole. I found a mesh there another day and it belongs to the caserole. Used to filter vine prior to consumption.
I talked to the archie i work with and the finds come most likely out a grave. Very rare to find them that complete in another context.

Cool, not something I have ever heard dug!

Very uncommon. They usually only come out of archaeological excavation. The farmer did a deep plow after last harvest and probably hit the grave.
