Roscoe Turner's 57 Flying Corp
Today was a good day. . . no old coins (just a clad quarter and a Sac dollar) but, I did make
a couple of interesting recoveries along the Des Plaines that I'm really pleased with.
My first find was an old 3" pen knife with the blade totally rusted away but the casing
was GOLD! There are three engraved initials on one side but I haven't scraped away
the crud yet. . . I'm still too afraid of scratching it. I'm not sure if the thin casing shell is just
heavily plated or if it is solid 10K or 14K. . . I'll have to find out.

My last find was a "Col Roscoe Turner's 57 Flying Corps" Heinz premium badge
(much better than a Cracker Jack prize
) It appears the one I found was, at one time
the gold-plated version. . . which required sending in more box-top labels

Thanks for looking!
