Hey 1637,

I have three grown daughters, all were in band, two were in marching band. One of my daughters marched in the Rose Bowl Parade in 1999. Sumner, Wa. High School. My wife went with. We paid. There is some fundraising involved, no taxpayer money. The parents pick up the lion's share of the funding. Airfare, Disneyland, motel, food, souvenirs, etc . Ouch!

Usually -- at least the bands I know about -- have money raising events to pay for the travel and other costs. This year there was at least one band from Australia, and I doubt everyone in the band could pay their own way. Sorry that you don't like the bands, to me they make the parade. My granddaughter is in a university marching band, and I'd love to see her in the Rose Parade. Didn't happen this year though.

By saying you hope to see us all in the dirt soon do you mean like a burial?

76 trombones in the big parade..110 coronets close behind...ta ta

no just out looking for treasure.

Sorry Brad
These folks / kids, train all year and work real hard to be qualified / selected to have the privilege to be in the parade
Its a once in a life time experience for theses kids
No one pays them for their attending, its all donations - GRUMP
