✅ SOLVED Round Buckle

Hello Everyone,

I found this buckle several years ago. It is about 2 1/4 inches in diameter. The metal is probably a bronze and some gold color shows in a few locations. I have not been able to find any maker's marks on it. I was hoping that someone could take a look at the images and perhaps suggest an approximate age.

I'm thinking it's from the later 1940s early 1950s ladies belt buckle? A gold plate on base metal piece. No marks makes things a bit harder to identify. You see nothing like a very small mark under the corrosion?

Thank you Tamrock. I can't see any markings with the eye. I had refrained from additional cleaning as I felt I might be removing some of the plate. Perhaps I will try a bit more gentle cleaning and also take a look with a microscope.
