Welcome:hello:

Very interesting. I only have a wild guess that doesn't add up to good but maybe its an old boundry marker??

That's pretty cool. I would check with someone who knows native history of your area, also send pics to a symbol expert.

I'd be swinging a coil like crazy all round there. Possible cache marker? Later Clyde

Cool find! You might want to post this over in the Treasure Marks/Signs forum to see if any of the knowledgeable folks there can tell if the marks have any special meaning (i.e. Buried Cache or Caches or something else). Also, welcome to the TreasureNet forums!

I found some info on that symbol. In Middle Eastern symbology is is referred to as the "cross of Taxila", but that doesn't really help us in North America. It looks like in the Native American context, that symbol, within a circle is the symbol for earth. Now that is interesting. You should investigate this further! Here is a link that has some info...

Fascinating find, thanks so much for sharing it! :icon_thumright: :blob9::icon_flower: I'm curious about what caused you to dig two feet in that exact place? Was the earth disturbed in some intriguing way? Were you using a metal detector and just happened on the stone? Would love to know. And hope you find out a lot more about it and that area too. :cat: Andi

Interesting! Keep us posted. I hope it leads to treasure for ya!

My first thought was tic tac toe and like Frank I thought it would be a quick game. So I go with X marks the spot!
Good luck.

My guess would be a native American game piece of some sort. I always laugh when all the cache theories pop up ! Maybe you found that Forrest Fenn stash .....NOT. In any event very cool.

Thanks , J

I think you got it right, or at least the strongest case.
The Mississippian Mound Builders used this symbal on all weapons etc.
It could be a weapon, or a mound top peice.
I will try to find out if they made it up to the Richelieu River in Quebec.
I will try to convince the owners to let me dig.
They have a 250 year old well that has been covered up only on top.
If I drain it and get down there what can I expect to find.

Let me know if your close to Montreal

What ever it is, let us know when you learn more! Digging that well would be pretty amazing, too bad I'm so far from Montreal lol, Saskatchewan.

Exactly. Why did you dig two feet in that exact place ?????????????????????????

Unless found in context with artifacts it could be natural. Stone balls are always problematic.:laughing9:

Quick get Scott Wolter of America Unearthed on the case. If that was a hooked X, Scott would be all over this stone.

What is the diameter of this rock?
