I found this approximately one month ago.. In an area I have found very old shipwreck artifacts.
It was completely encrusted when found... I had forgotten all about it soaking in freshwater... I took it out just the other day and proceeded to squeeze a little and try to rub some corrosion off with my thumb and the entire crust popped right off.
I was just hoping someone could give me a little info on just what this is. I found some similar looking pieces referred to as roves but there was no explanation and the wreck was in Australia. "Late 1700s"
Is that what I have here?
Here is the photo from the web page below is the piece I found

These are the first "washers" made for nails or screws.

Nice low profile finish.
So... I suppose I'll put this with the "old stuff".

yeah man, right next to your birth certificate, lmao, kinda walked into that one. Damn nice finds. I found some cool mahogany boards here in wolf bay this week. We should go on a boat ride soon

I'm down.
Thanks man. ..... I mean.. old man. My age still starts with a 3! There's alot of fight left in me yet.
This has absolutely nothing to do with this thread.. But treasure is where you find it and this is treasure to me! Super stoked on this new find
