My artifact hunting friend Russie is holding 3 Prairie side notch points that are typical of the nicest stuff we find throughout the course of one summer of surface hunting

Russie and me hope you like these 3 pieces of TRSS, KRF, and the white one?

what do you think the white point is made of?

please be careful! don't stick yourself, they are very sharp!

Tell Russie he has three beautiful points there.

Question, what is TRSS? I take it you're talking about the point on the left. It looks a lot like the quartzite points we find in Alabama. Over the years quartzite turns to sandstone. Just wondering.

Larson,

You and your freind find some of the nicest items I have ever seen. From bone to flint your site is unmatched here on the forum. Do you have local or state shows? You would win best site hands down at a show. Those are 3 super finds!!!

Twig.

thank you to Bent-Twig,RPG, and Uniface very much I appreciate and value your comments

RPG, the 'TRSS' stands for 'Tongue River Silicified Sediment" or Gray (Grey) Chert which is native to the central and west central Dakota's
but now you are saying quartzite so I am going to re-examine the piece and see if we (no,if Russie made a mistake)
(If we are wrong it is his fault, and I will straighten him out, he thinks he knows everything(not really)
Bent-Twig, I don't think we have any shows here in the Dakota's, but I will make Russie do the research to find out if we do or not as
punishment for not identifying the point correctly, maybe this will teach him a lesson(just kidding,)
Thanks much, Larson1951

Larson you get Best of show here. I would not take anything to an artifact contest. Just keep turning your dirt like you do and keep out that creeping jenny and you will be fine. People are to curious. I lost a couple good sites years ago taking people to hunt. It soon became theirs.
Just my opinion. My humble opinion. :hello:

Makes my day to see some darn fine flaking. Excellent.
