Kids , grandkids , and I love hearty rye breads . Want to let them help me make some from scratch
and learn how .
I've made good wheat breads and biscuits . Not a novice . Out of my element with rye .
Trusted Mennonite supplier will provide me with whole grain dark rye ($0.72/lb) or whole grain pumpernickle ($0.68/lb) .
Plan to use sourdough starter , carraway seed and wheat flour mix . Any advice on whichflour to choose ?
Update :
Bought both types of flour . Made first turn of 2 loaves with 4/3 mix all purp white flour to dark rye . Everybody wants more .
