Hey folks, here are a few finds from my last two short hunts.
Hunted an old house site Thursday evening and found a 1949 silver quarter, an old cufflink and some older iron.
Then yesterday I was out for a little in the woods and found this cool knife. It was about four inches deep but it's in good shape. After I soaked it in PB Blaster I was able to get it open. It's a Mariners knife, made by Schrade. Thought it was cool. Thanks for looking.

You got the knife and the fork, now you just need to find the spoon. :hello2:

great finds, you just don't find that many knives like that, it's in pretty darn good shape

Still usable. Put it in your pocket. It will shine itself up

That knife is in surprisingly good shape. Great find!

Yes it is. The ends are brass and the blade and spike is stainless. Handle is Bakelite I think. Only rust is on the locking mechanism. I doubt it had been there to many years. Lost by a hunter no doubt.
Most knifes I find are toasted.

That is a very cool knife...great find!

I have one similar in my collection. Theyve got a lot of heft to them, easy to see how it might get lost.

I'd never seen one before, had to look it up.
May have been someone's knife while they were in the service and they brought it home then lost it. I'm over two hundred miles from the coast so it's a little out of place.
This knife probably meant something to someone and was sadly missed.

I have never seen one before either. Nice find

commonly carried by merchant mariners and deckhands on river barges

Nice rigging knife find. Yes, sailors do carry them, but on large ships they have limited usefulness. I've been in the Merchant Marine for 20 years and carry something slightly larger for 2", 3" and 4"diameter lines . ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1505084776.611217.webp. In place of the marlinspike we use a fid.

Cheers
