Back a few years ago someone posted a link to a website that had lots of the meanings of sailers words and how the are incorporated into our everyday life. Does anyone else remember this post?
That's a great link. The one I remember told about how the everyday words we use derived from Spanish and old Seamens words. It was post in this forum at least five or six years ago.
theres many a "special word" from the sailor world thats came ashore --overhead (for ceiling) --deck (for floor)-- bulkhead (for wall)-- trim (for both balancing the ballast & sails)---
since many early explorers were spanish --many spanish words became common words in many places .
