Said to be one of the most intact ghost towns in Colorado. Established in 1880 in a gold and silver mining area, with about 2,000 citizens. Mining fizzled out in about 40 years, the railroad left, and that was about the end of that. Couple of wildfires went through too destroying some businesses. Everything is still pretty much as it was, but the state has reconstructed the town hall. A few people still live there, and there's a small general store. The whole place is privately owned, but the public is welcome as long as you stay on the board sidewalks or the street. They have a couple of buildings you can walk in and see some info. Been there a few times, and the thing that amazes me most is they have more hummingbirds at that general store feeder than I've seen anywhere. About 12 miles west of SH 24.
