Went back to where I had 11 Roman Coins in 2 hours, this time with Dads help & more time I was predicting 15, & Dad said 5. He was way closer with just 3 in 7.5 man hours :icon_scratch: Seems my homing into that little cluster in the middle of the field was a little uncanny.

I'm not disappointed though

Dad got the hammered & although the bust is worn its a fairly scarce coin & our first Bury St Edmund Mint (I think) of Edward I circa 1280s.

Small Medieval Buckle & Pin
Top of a Medieval Ring (missing stone)
Tudor Belt decors
2 Lead Tokens
Frag. of Tudor Clothes Fastener

Find of the day by me is the bottom section of an Anglo-Saxon 6th C Brooch, masked face, never had this type :headbang: I hope I find more of it :-\

Yes, it could be the side/s &/or the base, haven't seen an exact match yet. Just happy its 6th C & Saxon (Brooch Frag.) :headbang:

Great finds today guys, I think you did well! :notworthy:

The two items at either end of this photograph are interesting.
Are they buttons? :dontknow:

Cheers,
Dave

Globe/ball buttons (circa 1800, give or take 10 years) or US Civil War buttons  :D

:read2:

Chances are you won't find a exact match :-\, unless you find one from the same maker, but still a nice fragment of 6thc Brooch :icon_thumleft:

This is the closest one I have seen :icon_thumleft:

Especially like the Brooch, As Hispan stated, an eerie similarity there :icon_scratch:

Sorry, didn't explain very well. (your right, I'm unlikely to get a precise match) I really meant whether it was more likely the bottom or one of the side arms. So far looking at the PAS & a couple of books, its looking more likely a bottom piece, specially if you see the reverse :icon_thumright:

The brooch is outstanding! :icon_thumleft:
