So my company does this trip to Puerto Rico every year called MVP(Mission, Values, Performance.) A select 250 employees from around the country get to go to San Juan for a week. There are team building exercises, seminars, excursions ect. This year I got to go and it was a lot of fun. It takes place at the Wyndam resort and casino and there is a lot of beachn to cover, so naturally i brought my detector. I decided to take the Garrett 250 instead of the AT Pro as i was slightly afraid of theft, I also brought my at pro pin pointer. On the last full day of the trip we all got 3 hours to do our own thing. I headed to the beach. The first 10 minutes were uneventful. The 11th minute was just awful. I was detecting close to the water line when a wave caught me off guard. It didn't hesitate to catch my detector either and in a split second the Ace 250 was kaput. At dinner that evening a fellow co-worker told me that he was trying to help this guy find his wedding ring. He told me that this guy was on his honeymoon and that he had been married 3 days. Get this: He took off his ring to put lotion on his wife's back and when he went to put it back on... well you know the rest of this story. My co-worker was out there for an hour trying to find it. He had heard that i had brought my detector and asked if i wouldn't mind trying to locate it. I got that feeling sort of like when you're at a sweet sight and you then realize that you forgot to pack your batteries, only this feeling was way worse. Anyway, I agreed to go out there with my pin pointer and just see if we could get lucky, but knowing in my gut that this was a long shot.
The next morning we got up early and went to the spot. The water hadn't hit it so there was a clear spot where we could concentrate the search. Maybe there was hope after all. It took me under a minute with my pin pointer on level 3 to find the Tungsten ring. It was actually the first signal i got. These beaches in Puerto Rico are extremely clean and free of pop tabs and other garbage.
Wow what a fast find, unfortunately my co-worker did not get the guys name. He was staying at the same Wyndham but that place is huge. We went to the front desk and filled out a report but i didn't feel that was enough. I figured that if it was me, the first thing i'd do was go down to that beach and keep looking, so i came up with this.
it says "WE Found it. Go to the Reception Desk"
A little while later i was pulled off the elevator to meet John from Phoenix AZ.
He was extremely grateful as i'm sure his wife was. I didn't meet her as i had assumed she was busy drawing up the divorce proceedings.
After all that, I went on to more adventures at Culebra island where I was able to get my detector opened up, cleaned out of all that salt water and working again like a Pro...err Ace.
P.S. Next time I'm taking the Pro.
