I started out Saturday on a scouting trip to investigate a potential new site, but couldn't find the caretaker, so I continued on to another site in the area where I have found a few toasted coppers, a 1784 half real, and a set of oval cufflinks. I had been to this site 3 times previously and never really came away with much, so my expectations weren't very high. The place is loaded with hot rocks and there is a lot of electrical interference as well, which means a lot of distracting chatter on my F75. However, this day turned out to be my best day at this site by far. I managed to get my coil over several good targets in the area that I had previously searched the hardest, and I also found a small hotspot in another part of the field that gave up 5 buttons including the 4 large dandies along with a copper. My only complaint is that all three coppers are completly toasted - it seems like a decent copper is just too much to ask for these days - my last 30 coppers have been crappy.

Really nice dig STeve. Love your finds and especially like that little suspender buckle.

But at least you are getting the copper out of the ground now. Will not be long and we won't even recognize them. Nice saves and hunt.

Saturday was good hunting! I found a bunch of flat buttons and a 1817 Liberty! Couldnt ask for better weather too. We need more days like yesterday, everyone I talked too and from what I saw on here had a good digging day. Went out today and got 1 flat button and that was it.

Nice day Steve... Its remarkable how you can hunt a site hard go back another day and walk away with a handful of oldies. I'm going to call it, "One Degree".

That's a nice day of digging Steve. And I sympathize with you about the coppers. Everything we find down this way is in the same shape or worse.

Great digs Steve. That site keeps producing. Too bad there are no coppers out here...they would be mint.

What a day you had,congrats!

Steve you did good bud! I have not been out in a few weeks now due to work and personal schedules...you have my blood pumping one last time now!

Dan

You did really well on that dig. I agree it is really frustrating to dig an old coin and find that it is toasted beyond recognition. I hope you have better luck with copper #31.

What is the oval with the two holes in it?

Steve, I see you found another of the oval relics & a reign end. That was a great hunt from a very old site. WTG, Q.

NOW WERE DIG-N 13 COLONIES....:occasion14: =ED

I get such a high from finding colonial stuff, I know what you mean about toasted coppers, if its toasted I find it. LOL! Still nice finds! HH!

What is the oval with the two holes in it?

They were used in conjunction with these decorative brackets and used as a strap guide, probably on saddles or some other horse/wagon related gear.
