Saturday on the river Thames

Helllooomanaged nearly 3 hours this Saturday with my Deus not the best tide and best spot but weather was ok so really enjoyable.

Did rake the foreshore trying a new technique ,to make the coins and artefact pop up not new but testing if a new tool designed like a bucket will be easy to scrape and scoop the rich gravel.. will keep you updated on that...


Managed a few clay pipes early ones and some later ones

Some pottery ranging from middle ages (Green ware) to 17th century(Bellarmine) some slipware and thumbed one as well (really like those ones)

A hand full of coin including a roman coin which need a good clean but should come out too bad .......plus the usual junk lead and brass nothing amazing but a good session

What a blast! Looks like you did very well. Can you ever find old coins on the Thames without a detector,just eyeballing them?

Yes we call that eyes only i remember a spot scratching they were coming out by the handful

Its is indeed depend of the spots but you can find a lot ....not i need a bucket line!!!!

Very interesting to me. Any sort of restrictions on where on the river you can detect?

I m a licensed Mudlark i can go detect anywhere except a few places which are world heritage on those places i can only pick up artefact..
