Hey folks, just starting a thread wondering if it is worth doing bank runs on a saturday?
we all know most banks are only open a few hours in the morning, but do you think it is worth hitting up banks asking for coins?
thank you,

On Saturdays some of the banks in my area do not have a vault teller working. The only coins you can get are about $50 the vault teller sold to a teller who works on Sundays. Or banks I can buy whatever I want on Saturdays.

Saturday and Sunday are my dump days when I visit America's Most Convenient Bank :tongue3:

Worst day for coin roll hunting, besides Sunday. But, you should use the day to dump whatever coins you have laying around.

Not enough banks open on Saturday (and none on Sunday) in my area to make it worthwhile. Being the last Saturday before Christmas, I would expect HUGE lines. However, you might just find that collection just cashed in to buy last minute presents.

Hey Buff, I have done this in the past, stop off at D&D first for some coffee, and make my rounds asking for CWR's at the banks that are open till 1:00, if you have the time and nothing else going on, I would. Worst case you spent some time and gas, which we all do allready doing this hobby. Good luck, Maverick.

Thanks for all the replies, i think i will hold off on a road trip until after christmas though.

If you have time, I really would consider visiting some of your local branches. I feel like this time of year, you might get lucky with teller trays, never know. If you have banks close by, a quick drop by might yield a few silvers or a bundle?!

I have one bank that I pick up a box from on Saturday mornings.

If I'm coming home from crashing at a friends house after a Friday night out and/or drinking too much, I'll usually stop at whatever banks are on the way home for loose coins and such.

I don't ever do pre-planned road trips on Saturdays though. I usually take a mental health day from work once every month or two to get my CRH-specific road trips in.

I love Dungeons & Dragons coffee... :laughing7:

I make the rounds every Saturday morning, both dumping coin and looking for more. Got lucky today, and found an unclaimed box at a bank right near my home; it only gave up a 40% and some nice proofs, but wth. I've also gone out of town on Saturday road trips in the past, just have to do your homework to see areas where there's a high density of banks, and verify that they're open on Saturday before you go!

Thanks for the tips. I hit up one bank on saturday to pick up $40 in nickels, $10 in pennies, and $20 in CWR Halves. all skunks besides 2x 1938 jefferson nickels.
