I just wanted to share my story of my great save tonight. I was driving down the the road and saw this pretty owl in the middle of it. I thought it was a hit baby rabbit and then said "damn an owl". I pulled over and grabbed her in the nick of time, she would have been run over and killed with on of the next few cars. She didnt fuss when I grabbed her and she did spread her wings, about a 2 ft wingspan. I called my cop friend and he gave me a 24 hour hotline to call. They said its best to take it home and bring it to the rehab place tomorrow, they will be glad to take her and release her back into the wild. She is resting now in a big dog crate with soft blankets. I know this post will get moved but had to share my story.

Wow! that is to cool... Keep us posted.

Awesome, that's my mothers totem animal... So good save !!

Dam she is pretty. I would keep her for a few days then take her to the rehab. You can look up what they eat and buy it. Kewl! :occasion14:

Outstanding save NJ Marty!

just a little guy.

Looks like a baby great-horned owl, so pretty! I use to rehab and release with the nature center here. Everything from baby opossums, rabbits, squirrels, great horned owls, barn owls, red-tailed hawks and red-shouldered hawks. They are all incredible creatures, so good for you! You did a wonderful thing!

Awesome and adorable! I love how it is just like yep another ride in the car =)

What did that ring up at on the Minelab? :icon_scratch:

In all seriousness it looks like you saved an Eastern Screech Owl.

Well done Marty.

Awesome photo. I'd frame that.

Proberbly been clipped by a car and got concushion, I have done the same with many birds, but not a Owl, had a Kestrel in the car one day, he had concushion. You did the right thing, a dark area for him to recover is what he needs...weldone :icon_thumright:

:icon_thumright: Good deed. I had a fancy carrier pigeon (band on his leg) fly into my picture window a while back. I put him in a cage for a few days to make sure he would live. He lived, but he had an injured wing and couldn't fly. I eventually took him to the exotic animal rescue place to be rehabilitated. and adopted or whatever.

So CUTE!!! Good for you, very responsible. Too bad you can't keep it. I'm sure the wife wouldn't like having more "hooters" in the family though hahaha.
Somewhere, up there, Captain Planet is looking down so proudly at you. BANNER VOTE FOR THE ANIMAL SAVER!!!

That is amazing. He's probably just feeling a little under the weather. The doc at the animal hospital is going to make him give up those Marlboros!

Awww you did a good thing. keep us posted on how the little guy is.

Awesome! You've done a great thing. Hopefully you can keep tabs on his/her research. Similar thing happened with me a few years ago and a baby raccoon, but everyone I called strictly warned me to keep away from it. I at least got it out of harms way and far from the road. Please post updates as you get them!

Nice, remember no good deed goes unpunished, and your punishment will be gold and silver under your coil!!!HH :icon_thumright:
